I’m sure a lot of you would of seen the episode of the Fixer on Tuesday night showcasing the Singing Kettle. There are a lot of different sort of opinions on the show and how the actual proprietors of the establishment reacted to the ideas that Alex Polizzi had, and I think she even admitted defeat on this occasion.
However, I managed to see this particular episode and I did find myself screaming at the television on more than on one occasion as some of the events that went on were kind of infuriating. However, I would also like to say that being on Channel 2 there are occasions whereby things are dramatised further for the betterment of the viewers.
My overall thoughts on the fact that Torbay was on the television was that it was showed, to a point, in a excellent view and certainly if you were watching the episode further a field you would be attracted by the prospect of new innovative builds like the Abbey Sands development and possibly a place, yet to make its name in the UK but a place that is trying to get out of the rut it finds itself in today.
I’m not one for believing that every piece of green space or heritage should be lost under a sea of tower blocks and skyscrapers however I do think that innovation is of key importance to Torbay and change is a must if we are to see the next few years as a destination for tourists and shoppers alike.
This episode of the Fixer, clearly showed a busy Torquay town centre which for those watching further a field may have encouraged them to think about popping down for a day. It it is brilliant that Torbay is being showcased on the television and for those businesses that have had the pleasure of meeting Alex Polizzi, don’t be afraid of change…
