Yesterday, we saw Facebook unveil some of its latest features that we can expect to see coming soon and some that are even available right now. One of the unveiling was the Messenger Platform whereby essentially apps live within the Messenger App to make expressing yourself far more easier and fun.
One of these Apps is San Francisco based company Camoji which is a camera first animated GIF creator. Founded by Carlos Whitt formerly of Google and Square and former CTO of Adku (acquired by Groupon for over 10M), Austin Broyles former engineering lead at Google and Square, and Jisi Guo, Head of Product at Ribbon.
Camoji allows the user to create animated GIFs, add never before seen filters and text, and send them to your friends via Messenger with the simple tap of a button. With the development of the Messenger Platform ecosystem Camoji will be one of many applications available within Messenger.
How it works?
Camoji has launched 11 new filters for animated GIFs. Some filters enhance aesthetic quality of the GIF. Others are edgier and encourage creativity with GIFs. Thanks to Camjoi Messenger users can now add a level of stylized text, create memes and once a GIF has been recorded the user can slow it down or speed it up for added effect.
Take a look at some of the samples below:
GIFs are trendy
With the dawn of the selfie and emoji is was only a matter of time before GIFs quickly became a widely used social media medium. Unlike a typical static image, GIFs have the ability to capture the moment adding a richer dynamic to social sharing. Reaction GIFs are a popular way to convey emotion through the Messenger App.
Camoji allows users to easily create their own GIFs in seconds, enabling the trend of more expressive communication.
